Recently, Welding Alloys’ Integra™ services team successfully completed a mill repair project in Albania. The application involved rebuilding mill rolls, which often require periodic repair due to wear caused by continuous operation, high loads and the abrasive nature of the processed material.
Integra™ team members travelled to Albania to repair two mill rolls at the customer’s site. As part of a planned maintenance programme, the Welding Alloys team worked in collaboration with our regional partner, based in Greece. The work was initiated following performance issues linked to previous repairs carried out by a competitor, which had resulted in frequent breakouts and required the replacement of one of the rolls.
During inspection, one roll was found to be in poor condition and required extensive restoration. Using Welding Alloys’ specialist welding wires and processes, the team successfully rebuilt the roll to its original template, correcting the geometry and ensuring it met the required operational specifications.
Full hardfacing was carried out on the second roll (the newer roll) to improve wear resistance and extend service life.
Everything was completed on schedule and approved by the customer after final inspection, with a return visit planned to assess potential additional work.
This project demonstrates the ability of Welding Alloys Integra’s ability to mobilise expertise internationally and work closely with regional partners, delivering high-quality repairs that restore performance and extend component life while supporting customers in maintaining reliable plant operations.
