Boiler cladding
Power generation boilers operate under the most demanding conditions in the industry, with exposure to elevated temperatures, abrasion, erosion, and corrosion resulting in constantly deteriorating metal surfaces. These conditions are especially hostile in the waste-to-energy sector, where waste fuel is usually supplied from different sources. These fuels can contain varying levels of abrasive particles, and substances responsible for corrosive gasses to be generated inside the boiler that are aggravated by operating temperatures. The waterwall tubes of boilers are vulnerable to suffer from failures due to wall thinning and water leaks, resulting in partial or complete plant shutdowns.
Repair protocols in terms of component replacement is a viable option and in most cases the only solution. This can however be time consuming and difficult to execute due to confined workspaces and working at heights.
