Cladding Applications

Cladding involves the thickening of a surface through the application of a corrosion resistant material  to a less resistant substrate. The application of one material onto the surface of another to provide a protective layer has numerous benefits including a reduction in the overall material cost for industrial users.

A wide range of processes can be applied to achieve a weld overlay with varying results across different applications. These include, electroslag strip cladding, submerged arc welding with wire or strip, gas tungsten arc welding with cold or hot wire and gas metal arc welding, including the controlled short circuit variants.

Case studies have shown that cored welding wire, tailored to a specific application in terms of chemistry, mechanical properties and weldability, has added advantages through its versatility, productivity and reliability in the applications they are used.

Why Welding Alloys?

At Welding Alloys, we manufacture a range of cored welding wires for different cladding applications to achieve increased wear resistance. These consumables, applied by means of our welding procedures and equipment are designed to deposit weld metal to achieve conformance of the targeted properties. Our cladding solutions prevent and minimise wear problems caused by factors such as abrasion, impact, temperature, corrosion, and erosion while increasing the service life of your parts by up to 500%.

Engineered Wear Services

Our global teams, composed of qualified Integra™ engineers, technicians, and welders use their expert knowledge and experience to carry out cladding on-site and can reduce the need for expensive component replacement. Cladding is applied to international standards, ensuring the highest quality and workmanship, without compromising structural integrity of the plant or the support structures.
